About

A bit about me

My name is Lakshmi and I am a self-taught artist from Nottingham. From a young age, drawing and painting has been my passion. I attended art classes in Malaysia when I was young and continued studying Art in the UK, achieving grade A at A level. I then decided to pursue a degree in Business & IT which was a difficult 4 years as I was not able to do what I loved the most. After graduating, I was happy I could start painting again.

I now work as a Data Analyst and paint during my spare time. In between working and painting, I enjoy
gardneing, cooking, travelling and going to the gym. If you'd like to see what I get up to you can follow me on Instagram!

Being lost in creating art is what brings me peace and happiness; it has really helped me get through hard times throughout the last 10 years. I believe my talent is a gift and I would like to use it to bring colour and happiness into peoples homes.

About my work

All the magic happens in my little 9'x7' art studio in the heart of Nottingham.

My comissioned works are painted using acrylics on canvas. I work mostly from my own photographs and those that are sent to me for commissions. I am inspired by nature and the things around me and I like to explore these using vibrant colours. I love taking commissions especially for pet portraits; it is an amazing feeling to see my work making someone else happy.

My inspiration of making handmade home décor came about after moving out of my parents’ house. When decorating my home, I struggled to find something unique and personal, so I decided to make my own. After a lot of experimenting I made something that I was proud to display in my home, and then I wanted to make more. If you see something you like, just drop me a message and I’ll be happy to make something customised for you.
